Original contributions in these and related topics are encouraged. Abstracts will only be accepted electronically and must be submitted through the link below or at

Abstract receipt will be acknowledged by email. The Program Committee will select speakers for the Oral Presentations from the submitted abstracts. Acceptance Letters will go out April 1. Titles and authors will be posted on the web site shortly thereafter. The Program and Abstracts Book will be published in a special issue of Biopolymers: Peptide Science. This issue will be mailed to delegates prior to the meeting.

Instructions for Online Abstract Submission

The Scientific Program Committee is soliciting abstracts of papers for presentation at the 20th American Peptide Society Symposium, “Peptides for Youth”. Abstracts may be submitted starting November 15, 2006. Acceptance of papers will be based on abstracts that are submitted in accordance with the instructions outlined below. All abstracts must be submitted prior to midnight (EDT) on February 28, 2007.

Each abstract will be composed of a title, the authors' names and affiliation(s) followed by the body of the abstract (text, with or without graphics). The entire abstract, including authors' names, affiliations and e-mail addresses as well as the title and text of the abstract, must fit in the space indicated by the webHermes preview.

Abstracts must be submitted online using webHermes through your web browser. webHermes allows authors to use their web browser to create and submit abstracts, regardless of their computer operating system.

Under “General Information” Tab

• Insert your Title. Be sure to use the symbol options when appropriate.
• Choose the desired Topic.
• Designate if you wish your abstract to be submitted for an Oral or Poster presentation.
• Designate if you wish your submission to be considered for the Young Investigator Symposium.
• Designate if you wish to compete for a Travel Award. Please see the instructions for this award

Under "Authors" Tab

• Presenting author's name and email address
• All authors names and their affiliations

Under "Abstract" Tab

Abstract text, should be a minimum of 120 words in 9 pt font size;; the entire abstract, including graphics, must fit in the space indicated in the PDF preview under the "Preview" Tab.

• Compounds should be numbered in bold, e.g. 1, 2, 3, etc.
• References should be inserted into square brackets, e.g. [1], [2], etc.

Under the "Graphic" Tab

• You may attach one graphic file to your abstract. The following formats are supported in order of decreasing preference.

WMF - Windows Meta File

PS, EPS - Postscript or Encapsulated Postscript

GIF, JPG - Bitmap Images

Image size should be kept to a minimum. For a 600 dpi print resolution, maximum 2 inch x 1 inch (or 1200 pixels x 600 pixels)

Under "Preview" Tab

• View a PDF (Adobe Acrobat) preview of your abstract. Save a copy of the .pdf file for future reference.
• Abstracts can be submitted by selecting "Submit Your Abstract". Make sure your abstract entirely fits in the allotted space and is correct and complete before you submit it. **You must click on the “Submit Abstract” button to complete the process.**

Please note:
If you need to edit your abstract, you may do so at any time PRIOR to submitting your abstract. Also, you may exit the website and return at a later date to complete the submission of your abstract using your username and password to login. However, once submitted, the abstract cannot be changed. Please check your submission carefully!
